START
We start at the recreational area of Quejigales, a picturesque setting surrounded by forests of Spanish firs and holm oaks. The route starts on a well-marked path that crosses dense forests before gaining altitude.
Ascent to Torrecilla Peak:
As you go, the trail winds through hills and valleys, offering intermittent views of the surrounding peaks. The ascent is challenging but rewarding, with stretches that take you through old cobblestone paths and grassland areas.
Spanish Fir Forest
One of the highlights of the route is the journey through the Spanish fir forest, unique and protected trees that give the Sierra de las Nieves its status as a Biosphere Reserve. The magical and tranquil atmosphere of this forest adds a special touch to the experience.
Top of Torrecilla Peak
Upon reaching the summit of Torrecilla Peak, at an altitude of 1,919 meters, you will be rewarded with unparalleled panoramic views. From this elevated point, you'll be able to admire the surrounding mountains, the Mediterranean in the distance, and on clear days, even the African continent.
Descent and finish
The descent follows a different route, providing a new perspective on the landscape. You'll pass crystal clear streams and grassland areas before returning to Quejigales, where you can relax and reflect on the incredible journey you've just completed.
